Buyer is conducting a solicitation for tooling inserts that encompasses the usage for a number of plants in the U.S.  The buyer will consider purchasing current manufacturer product and, in an effort to reduce costs, is prepared to test equivalent substitute products. Suppliers should bid on both current manufacturer products and equivalents.

There are 16 Private Reverse-Auctions (events) that comprise all the tool inserts currently out for bid.  Suppliers need to reply to Sorcity indicating which events where they are able and willing to bid on all line items.  Sorcity will then provide suppliers an access code to only those events so the supplier may bid.  Suppliers must bid on ALL tools listed in each event they confirmed participation.

It is the intention of the buyer to award by line item to suppliers. The quantities listed in these events represent last years purchase of these items. The buyer does not guarantee the exact usage of tools or quantity over the next year, however, suppliers need to be aware that while usage of tooling may not be exact, there is a potential for additional business of similar tooling. It is the Buyer’s intention that an award to a supplier through this Reverse-Auction provide the supplier with an equivalent or greater amount of business even if it is not all with the tooling listed here.

Awarded suppliers will be placed on a "Key Supplier List", receive new Purchase Orders for the items they currently supply and get an opportunity to test and prove out their equivalent substitute products against current products used, at each of buyers locations, if the Buyer elects to consider a competing product. However, only after approval by the individual plant, will the supplier receive a P.O. for the approved products.
